Nausea Control

Nausea and vomiting are common side effects of anesthesia. At Southeast Anesthesiology Consultants our physicians are focused on controlling nausea and vomiting after surgery.

How do physicians of Southeast Anesthesiology Consultants control nausea?
  • At Southeast Anesthesiology Consultants we pride ourselves on the quality of our care.
This includes preventing nausea and vomiting as often as we can after surgery. To do
so, Southeast Anesthesiology Consultants have developed a protocol for identifying high
risk patients for nausea and vomiting, and through its implementation, have reduced
    patient’s chances of nausea.

Some of the techniques that our anesthesiologists use include:
  • Giving medications to prevent nausea before surgery starts in “at risk” patients
  • Maintaining nausea preventing medications throughout surgery
  • Ensuring that there are anti nausea medication available after surgery

Why is it important to control symptoms of nausea and vomiting after anesthesia?
Nausea and vomiting after anesthesia not only makes you feel miserable, but can cause significant stress on incisions and the abdominal cavity after anesthesia. By controlling nausea and vomiting you will feel better and we will be able to decrease your recovery time.
